Get Your Contact Lenses
I’m interested in lenses; how do I try them?
The first step is to book an appointment with our Optometrist, during this they will discuss your lifestyle and hobbies as well as examine the health of the eyes. From this, they will be able to recommend the best lens to suit your needs.
Next, you will be shown how to insert and remove the lenses safely by our Dispensing Optician, as well as having cleaning requirements and safety points explained.
We hold a large range of lenses in stock so most teaches will be done the same day as your initial fitting assessment.
Once the teach has been completed you will be able to take the lenses away to trial for 7-10 days depending on the lens type.
At the end of this trial period, you return wearing the lenses for an end-of-trial assessment. During this, the Optometrist will check your vision and examine the health of your eyes following a week of wear. Once concluded the prescription is then signed off as complete, allowing you to purchase your lenses as and when or on a monthly basis.
At P W Optics, we stock a wide range of spectacles specially designed for children’s faces to choose from. Many have soft nose pads for extra comfort and sprung hinges to withstand extra wear and tear. What lenses are best for me?
There are many different types of lenses available to suit all prescription and lifestyle needs.
Daily Disposables
A perfect option for convenience and occasional wear. These lenses can be worn as and when needed, a great solution for sports or social occasions. As a new pair of lenses is used each day there is no need for solutions, lens cases or cleaning, making them hassle-free.
Toric Lenses
Not all patients are suited to standard spherical lenses. Patients with astigmatism require a more specialised lens to correct the distortion caused by the ‘rugby-ball’ shape of the eye. Toric lenses are designed to fully correct this distortion. Toric lenses are available in both daily and monthly lenses.
Monthly Lenses
These lenses are a great option for full-time contact lens wear. Available in a wider variety of materials and prescriptions, these lenses require more maintenance than a daily disposable lens for them to last for a month’s wear, this will be fully explained by the Optometrist.
Multifocal Lenses
As we get older the crystalline lens loses its ability to change shape to focus on nearer objects, this is known as presbyopia. Multifocal contact lenses are designed to correct not only distance vision but near vision too, providing comfortable all-round vision without the need for spectacles.
