Services
At P W Optics we are proud to have our onsite glazing facilities. Our state-of-the-art Optical Laboratory is equipped with the latest in glazing technology.
Automatic lens centring and hole recognition for rimless spectacles allow us to maintain high-quality glazing for all orders. We control every aspect of the spectacle manufacture from ordering to assembly, which is why we can provide the highest quality finish on all orders.
Reglazing Spectacles
Our Reglazing Service
Do you have a frame you love and want to keep but can’t be without them? Not a problem! We offer a reglazing service for any existing spectacles.
During the dispense, our Dispensing Optician will use the Zeiss RVT to measure the full frame dimensions, allowing us to order and prepare your lenses without needing to keep your frames. Once your lenses arrive, we only require your frames for an hour to cut and fit the new lenses.
Upon completion, your spectacles are quality-checked by our Dispensing Optician to ensure they conform to British Standards before your collection appointment is arranged.
We glaze all frame types on-site, including plastic, metal half-rim, and rimless spectacles. Thanks to the highly accurate design function of our edger, we are not restricted to ‘off-the-shelf’ rimless frames but can produce custom-designed rimless spectacles.
Not only do we guarantee high-quality finishes, but we also offer a faster turnaround on orders. We hold a large stock range of single vision lenses, including Antiglare coated lenses, allowing us to produce spectacles within 1 hour. Thanks to our tinting facilities, we can also produce prescription sunglasses within 1 hour.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is an optical laboratory?
An optical laboratory is where lenses are prepared, cut, fitted, and assembled into spectacle frames. Having an on-site optical lab allows for greater quality control, improved accuracy, and faster turnaround times for glasses and lens services.
What is a reglazing service?
Reglazing involves replacing the lenses in your existing frames while keeping the frame itself. It is an ideal option if you have a pair of spectacles you love and want to continue wearing with updated prescriptions.
Can I keep my frames during the lens ordering process?
Yes. During your appointment, measurements can be taken from your frames using specialist equipment, allowing new lenses to be prepared without needing to keep your glasses immediately. Your frames are typically only needed for fitting once the lenses arrive.
How long does reglazing take?
Once your lenses are ready, fitting and glazing your existing frames can often be completed within approximately one hour, depending on the type of lenses and frame style.
Can any type of frame be reglazed?
We can reglaze a wide range of frame types, including plastic, metal, half-rim, and rimless spectacles. Suitability may vary depending on the condition and age of the frame.
Can prescription sunglasses be made quickly?
Yes. With on-site glazing and tinting facilities, prescription sunglasses can often be produced within a short timeframe, helping you receive your glasses faster.
Are rimless glasses available in custom designs?
Yes. Advanced glazing technology allows for custom-designed rimless spectacles rather than limiting options to standard frame designs.
How is the quality of my glasses checked?
Every pair of spectacles undergoes a quality check before collection to ensure the lenses are correctly fitted and that the finished glasses meet required standards.
What are the benefits of an on-site optical laboratory?
An on-site optical lab helps improve quality control, reduces waiting times, offers faster lens replacements, and provides greater flexibility for custom spectacle solutions.
Can anti-glare lenses be fitted to my glasses?
Yes. Anti-glare coated lenses can be fitted to many prescription glasses and can help reduce reflections, improve visual comfort, and support clearer vision in different lighting conditions.
